Good Neighbour Schemes

One of the most enduring ways a community can help themselves is through the development of a Good Neighbour scheme. We can help you do this.

Norfolk Energy Switch - helping West Norfolk consumers make real savings on their electricity and gas bills

Energy switching is not a new idea - but 50% of householders have not switched in the last three years. This means their supplier defaults them onto a ‘Standard Variable Tariff’, which typically is the most expensive. No-one should have to pay more than they need to. Collective energy switching uses the bargaining power of a large group of residents to get them a competitive offer.

A heart for the community – Connecting Bowthorpe

Connecting Bowthorpe is a collective of community volunteers from several organisations within Bowthorpe, all with extensive experience of community work and a real vision for the area, and with a long-term commitment to the residents of Bowthorpe.

Healthwatch Norfolk’s new Community Conversation Hub

Healthwatch Norfolk has launched a new interactive platform as a new way for the public to have its say.

NHS Complaints Advocacy – resolving concerns about medical treatment

Even in less crisis-driven times the NHS deals with around 1 million patients every 36 hours, and we are all very much aware of the extra pressures brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Very occasionally however, something goes wrong and needs resolving. And it’s dealing with those rare instances that helps maintain the high standards of service within the NHS, which is where NHS Complaints Advocacy can help.

Support for carers to attend COVID-19 vaccinations

Carers, and those dependent upon them, face many additional difficulties and obstacles during the pandemic. Specialist support organisations across Norfolk have responded to the need as follows. Please help spread the word as appropriate.

Our Covid work with Good Neighbour Schemes & Mutual Aid

Over the weekend of the 14th March 2020, we saw several hundred Norfolk communities create new Mutual Aid Groups in response to the pandemic's effect on their communities.

This was our community spirit at its best. A process of forming groups that would normally take several months was accelerated into days. People were coming forward to help, who had never volunteered before. Whatever the legacy of the practical support that was delivered, the simple truth is “you can’t un-meet your neighbour” and this is hugely positive for our communities.

Safeguarding – what we all need to know and do

Everyone in the VCSE community should[JC1] [SN2]  be aware of the need for vigilance and protecting the vulnerable – and understand the requirements and implications of safeguarding.  Every VCSE organisation delivering charitable activities has a duty to safeguard volunteers, staff, hirers, adults, children and young people, participants and donors.

The 2021 Census – and why it’s important for the VCSE sector

The UK’s Census takes place on Sunday 21st March.  It’s a snapshot of everyone in the UK, all on one day.

FREE energy costs awareness training for VCSE staff and volunteers

We’re delivering just three more of our popular FREE online training sessions for frontline staff and volunteers working with the most vulnerable residents in our communities.
