Safeguarding Adults Week – 16 to 22 November

Monday 16th to  Sunday 22nd November is Safeguarding Adults Week, and each day is focused on a different adults safeguarding risk issue. 

Working with partners through COVID-19: Norfolk Community Advice Network

At CAN we have been conducting research to assess the impact of COVID-19 on VCSE operations and service delivery. You can read about this here.   We are featuring here regular examples of how groups and organisations have adapted their particular services. This week we’re focussing on Norfolk Community Action Network. 

Norfolk’s VCSE sector responding to Coronavirus – Aylsham & District care Trust

We’ve seen so much commitment from Norfolk’s VCSE sector in to adapting to new ways of working during COVID-19. Dealing with the impact of social isolation was a primary developmental driver for Aylsham & District Care Trust (ACT) and remains at the heart of their work today, reinforced by additional need triggered by the pandemic. 

Food and Beverage Buggies are FABB!

There are many community-based projects that have sprung up to help vulnerable people across Norfolk during the COVID pandemic. Others were already well-established and have proved their worth before and during these difficult times. CAN has been working with many such groups, and we are pleased to be working with FABB.

Loneliness Awareness Week (15th to 19th June) is highlighting one of the great social scourges of our modern society.  Community Action Norfolk is at the forefront of combating social isolation across our county, with a range of projects encouraging and enabling individuals to become involved in activities in their local communities.  

Village Hall Improvement Grants – 100% success rate with CAN!

There are around 10,000 village halls across England and many are crucially important to local communities, but their upkeep and improvements cost money. 

Trust matters - how the public sees charities

‘Trust matters.’ The first two words in the introduction to the Charity Commission’s report ‘Trust in Charities’.   In the light of the emergence of corruption and scandal in some large national and international charities, many managers and staff in the third sector are rightly concerned about how the public views them and the way they work.

Election candidates urged to commit to fairer rural policies

 The Rural Coalition is calling on prospective Parliamentary Candidates and their political parties to commit to delivering fairer funding for rural areas following the election on 12 December.
