What We Do

​

We provide support and advice for voluntary sector groups.  These can be anything from small local groups to registered and unregistered charities, and social enterprises.  Collectively these are called Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations.  We aim to be a one-stop-shop for organisations at any stage in their development, and can provide support around topics like: 

  • Finding funding 
  • Answering governance queries 
  • Advice on how to start up 
  • Support to get the right structure 
  • Policy advice  

And much more!  If it is to do with VCSE organisations, we can help or signpost you to the best place to get help.  

One to One Support  

Got a question, or come across an issue, and need advice? We can provide one-to-one support by email, phone, or face-to-face (online or in person depending on the situation).  Our Development Team have a wealth of knowledge and experience with voluntary sector organisations and issues that affect them. Cromer & District Foodbank – meeting the need before, during and after COVID-19

Cromer & District Foodbank has been up and running since 2012, so dealing with people’s individual crises is not new to the team, and they were well-experienced and equipped to deal with Covid-19 when it hit.

Village and community halls everywhere have felt keenly the impact of COVID-19 on their ability to provide social and recreational events. For many the ongoing lack of income has presented a tangible financial crisis. How much more so then, for a brand-new community hall, whose planned launch coincided with the first pandemic lockdown in March 2020? 

Norfolk’s VCSE sector responding to Coronavirus – Aylsham & District care Trust

We’ve seen so much commitment from Norfolk’s VCSE sector in to adapting to new ways of working during COVID-19. Dealing with the impact of social isolation was a primary developmental driver for Aylsham & District Care Trust (ACT) and remains at the heart of their work today, reinforced by additional need triggered by the pandemic. 

Sunflowers in Sprowston - supporting the community during COVID-19 and beyond

We are regularly reporting on the wonderful achievements of Good Neighbour Schemes and community support groups – many of which have been born in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  CAN’s Development Officers have been advising and supporting many of these enterprises.  Such a group is Sprowston Supporting Our Community Together, which has joined our Good Neighbour Scheme network. Their chosen title describes exactly what they do.

Helping Hands in Thorpe

Volunteers have been flocking to help vulnerable residents in the in Thorpe Hamlet and Thorpe St Andrew areas of Norwich. 

Broadland and South Norfolk District Councils Management Structure

Following recent meetings of Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council they have completed the first stage of their collaborative journey with ratification of senior appointments.
