On 7 May 2025, the Government issued its response to a joint proposal submitted by six Norfolk district councils regarding the reorganisation of local government across the county. The proposal puts forward a bold vision for a new three-unitary model aimed at improving public services, strengthening local democracy, and driving economic growth.
In a statement issued on behalf of Broadland District Council, Breckland Council, Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, Great Yarmouth Borough Council, North Norfolk District Council, Norwich City Council, the councils outline their initial reaction to the Government’s interim proposals and reaffirm their commitment to working together to develop a full business case.
