Communities vs Coronavirus: the big impact of Good Neighbour and Mutual Aid schemes

A report from the New Local Government Network (NLGN)  states that a huge proportion of vulnerable people needing help during the pandemic has been directly supported by the proliferation of thousands of the spontaneous, voluntary Mutual Aid groups that have emerged. 

 

Leeway - protecting the vulnerable during lockdown and beyond

CAN’s research into the state of the VCSE sector across Norfolk during the COVID-19 pandemic has been building a comprehensive analysis of information needed for future sector planning. It also reflects the resilience which many charities and voluntary organisations have shown in adapting to delivering their services at this time. Leeway, operating across all of Norfolk and part of Suffolk, is one such.

Norfolk VCSE and the Future

Mental Health Awareness training for NHS Link Workers

We have a full house for our Mental Health Awareness course on 21st, 27th and 29th July. The three half-day Zoom-based workshops will deliver the equivalent of Mental Health First Aid England’s course but very much with a localised focus.

Professional training for new Primary Care Network (PCN) link workers

Recognition of Community Action Norfolk’s experience in the planning and delivery of Social Prescribing has led to us being commissioned by NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group to deliver professional support and training to the new Primary Care Network Social Prescribing Service. 

Back to normal? Returning to the regular work environment – webinars for VCSE organisations - 12th and 15th June

CAN is hosting two Zoom webinars to discuss the practical issues to consider when returning to offices and other working environments. The first, this Friday, 12th June, is aimed at voluntary organisations and community groups based and operating in West Norfolk. The webinar will be repeated on Monday 15th June for organisations in North Norfolk.  

Bereavement in the time of COVID-19

Dealing with bereavement is never easy. It’s even harder during this difficult period, with separation from loved ones at the most crucial time. Norfolk County Council, together with the Working Together partnership, is offering a 30-minute wellbeing telephone support call to anyone registering a death.

Adult Learning launches new online courses

Norfolk County Council’s Adult Learning has made many of its courses available online, as well as launching new online courses designed to keep people active, healthy and connected throughout the lockdown.
