Over the last three years our Talking About Cancer Together (TACT) Programme has increased awareness of and access to support that is available to people affected by cancer in Norfolk through collaboration, partnership working and shared learning. Leading to the creation of a Norfolk VCSE Cancer Network which you can join here.
The project has worked with the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector and local communities supporting them in increasing their awareness of support and services available, both locally and nationally, to those affected by cancer.
Through collaboration with those delivering cancer support and our in-depth knowledge and understanding of communities, cancer and the local landscape we have created new resources, such as our Cancer Card Game, hosted conferences and events, and delivered bespoke workshops. All of which have enabled greater awareness of and access to cancer related information and support within the VCSE sector and for their clients / service users and local communities and strengthen the relationships and collaboration between organisations.
As a result of the trusted relationships developed with organisations, community groups and other stakeholders across Norfolk supporting diverse communities we have been able to deliver tailored workshops to those who may not usually access cancer support services. This has included working with LGBTQ+, faith, veteran, farming and traveller communities delivering bespoke workshops and support. The project has also facilitated the development of a regional working group focused on improving support for young people affected by cancer.
Over the coming year our focus is on continuing to expand our Talking About Cancer Together Networks and enabling collaboration, partnership working and shared learning. We will continue to work with the VCSE sector and other stakeholders to enable increased awareness of and access to support for those affected by cancer in Norfolk, ensuring a sustainable legacy alongside opportunities for project expansion.

As a result of our TACT Project Officer moving on in May 2026 a new TACT Project Officer will be in post in July 2026.
