At any event we hold or attend, one of the things that is always highlighted in feedback is how useful it was to have networking opportunities.  This is true for us too; so much of the intelligence we rely on to represent and advocate for the VCSE (Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise) sector comes from these conversations, and many of our partnership projects grow out of connections made at these events.  The only drawbacks are being able to dedicate time to networking (no mean feat in a sector under such demand and pressure), and finding who to network with.

“It’s not what  you know, but who you know” or rather, who you need to know!

A colleague recently reflected that at an event they attended they had spent the networking time catching up with our CEO, Rik Martin.  Obviously, this was time well spent, but it was a perfect example of the problem we can face with networking: We tend to gravitate towards the people / organisations we already know.  Naturally, this does still lead to great conversations and opportunities, but we can miss out on opportunities and conversations with the people and organisations we don’t know.

The solution?  Join the CANversation!

We are thrilled to be piloting a Connect & Spark Community.  Once a month, community members are emailed introductions to another community member to spark a conversation.  This means that you can connect with VCSE colleagues new and old, in a timeframe that suits you.

How it works

There is no cost, and the only ask is that you respond to matches.  You decide when and how to connect.

Once there are fifty community members we will start matching.

Tell us about it

We would love to hear how your connections work out.  If you have made a good connection, please let our Communications Officer, Julie, know.
