Meet Julie,

Julie joined CAN in the middle of the Covid pandemic as our Admin and Finance Officer after 22 years working in the hospitality industry. More recently her role has evolved and she is now our Communications and Finance Officer.

"I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to diversify my role and utilise my previous experience in Marketing and Communications after three very enjoyable years at CAN. Every day is different and it is the work that CAN does within the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector that makes my role so varied and interesting."

Her Communications role involves writing articles for the website, socia; media, creating content for our newsletters, project management, attending events and developing relationships with our key stakeholders and the wider community.

Julie is responsible for the organisation’s accounts and after setting up new accounting software when she joined us, takes responsibility for the company accounts. Primarily her responsibilities are budgeting, sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, and book-keeping.

Fun Facts:

  • Julie loves to walk and get up bright and early to do a 3-mile work before she starts work at 8am every day, come rain or shine.
  • She enjoys dancing, (not professionally) but has been known to be the first on the dancefloor and the last off on many occasions. She loves to “rock and roll”.
  • Holidays are her passion and she has been lucky enough to travel to many wonderful places.
  • Julie is a bit of an adrenaline junky and has zip-lined in Jamaica through a tunnel of trees in the jungle across several traverses, including the 1100ft. Inter-Parish express over a river below.
