One quarter of us will have problems with our mental wellbeing at some time in our lives. Many of life’s demands can affect our levels of stress. Although a little pressure can be good and helps to keep us motivated, too much all at once can make us stressed. Our stress level can be affected by things such as our physical health, our job (or finding one), our relationships and friendships, where we live and money problems.

Mental health and emotional issues, such as low mood, depression or stress though debilitating in many ways, can be overcome with the right support. It is important to remember that these feelings can pass and that we can help each other too.

Sometimes all it takes to lift someone’s mood is to take time to talk, a friendly chat can make a big difference, whether someone is around the corner or further away. Make sure to check in regularly – most of us love hearing from people we have lost contact with.

Exercise - spending time outdoors whist listening to podcasts, audio books and radio shows are just some of the ways to boost your mood and occupy your mind.

Join a group – this is a great way to make connections and meet new people.

Looking after our mental health is actually something we should think about all the time and really invest in, just like with our physical health but sometimes this is easier said than done. It is often hard to step outside of our comfort zone and it is ok to ask for help.
