As we entered the new year in 2023, the team at Community Action Norfolk recognised the pressing need for new carpets in our office. Beyond the essential considerations of maintaining a safe and healthy environment, we also aimed to uplift the overall atmosphere of our workspace. However, as we began to gather quotes, it became apparent that the task at hand was neither inexpensive nor straightforward. Faced with the financial constraints of being a struggling charity, we soon grasped the reality that carpeting the whole office was going to be too expensive.
In a plea for assistance, reaching out for any support, whether it be in the form of free carpet cut-offs or any other kind of help, our call was answered by an extraordinary act of kindness. S&L Carpets, a local business founded by Lee and Simon stepped forward, offering their assistance, and affirmed that they would help in any way they can.
Simon and Lee surpassed our expectations by not only supplying a whole floor's worth of carpet tiles, but also going the extra mile to expertly fit them in place! Their dedication showcased not just a commitment to their craft but a genuine desire to make a positive impact to our charity.
The roots of S&L Carpets run deep, with Lee and Simon's professional journey spanning over two decades. Their collaboration began at Aldiss in Fakenham and continued at Holt Carpets. In the midst of the uncertainties brought on by the first lockdown, the duo made a bold decision to embark on an entrepreneurial journey, founding S&L Carpets. Today, the business thrives, specialising in supplying and fitting carpets, vinyl, and LVT, with plans for expansion on the horizon.
“We are great believers in there being more to life than just making profit. Enjoying our work and doing the best job possible are massively important to us. When we got the opportunity to help a charity like Community Action Norfolk (CAN) we were delighted, and more than happy to do anything we could to make a difference.” -Lee
Inspired by the kindness shown by S&L Carpets, we have decided to start a pay it forward campaign in the hopes of spreading the kindness and as a gesture of goodwill. We are now offering free office furniture to any charities that may need it. This initiative stems from a belief in the power of kindness and the positive ripple effects it can have on a community. By providing free office furniture, we hope to make a difference in the same way S&L carpets has to our charity.
Please email office@communityactionnorfolk.org.uk for more information and to see what furniture is available. Please note all furniture must be collected from our office in Dereham. While donations are not expected they are apreciated.
