East Anglia is one of the driest regions of the UK, receiving about one-third less rainfall than the average for the rest of England; we actually get less rain than some areas of Spain!

Anglian Water serves communities and businesses across the region – about 4.3 million people all told - and CAN is a partner in working to support their educational and awareness campaigns. We have been very active in promoting Anglian water’s ‘Keep It Clear’ campaign, encouraging the public to dispose of waste water and material in the correct way.  Now we’re helping with their new campaign ‘Love Every Drop’.

‘Love Every Drop’

The demand for water is becoming greater, as the number of households increases, as winters become drier and summers hotter; so it’s ever more important to ‘Love Every Drop’ and save water where we can.  If everyone makes small changes at home or work, together we can all make a real difference. Anglian Water domestic customers use an average of 136 litres of water a day. Some of this is wasted through things like inefficient appliances, dripping taps, leaky loos, and excessive uses of water.

Anglian Water’s important message is that we are all in this together. To help keep the taps flowing and protecting the environment we need everyone to use 128 litres or less per day by 2025.  So, using 22 litres less each day is the target.

‘Love Every Drop’ aims to encourage customers to save water at home and in local communities through promoting top tips for water saving, providing water saving home visits to help customers save water and money, as well as engaging with customers who use water in the garden through encouraging the use of water-saving devices such as water butts. Small adjustments, such as keeping shower time to 4 minutes and turning the tap off when brushing your teeth, are important. A leaky toilet can waste between 215 and 400 litres of clean water each day.

It's also about saving consumers money. The average annual metered bill is £400. So, additionally, upgraded water meters will be soon be introduced across the region, enabling customers to monitor their usage accurately and further encourage saving water.
