Winter’s not done with us yet. The cost of heating oil is a big worry for people who live in off-gas areas. Here at CAN we help consumers to buy collectively and save money – and help support community projects at the same time.
There are around 10,000 village halls across England and many are crucially important to local communities, but their upkeep and improvements cost money.
Friday 14th February is Love West Norfolk day! It’s an opportunity for people who love West Norfolk to shout loudly and proudly about what a great place it is to live, invest, work, play and live in.
‘Trust matters.’ The first two words in the introduction to the Charity Commission’s report ‘Trust in Charities’. In the light of the emergence of corruption and scandal in some large national and international charities, many managers and staff in the third sector are rightly concerned about how the public views them and the way they work.
Here at CAN we’re often asked to advise on the duties and responsibilities of being a trustee. People are often understandably confused about what being a trustee really involves and a good deal of our governance work entails resolving this for them.
People sometimes get a little nervous about switching energy providers – even with the prospect of making considerable savings on their electricity and gas bills. There are around 10,000 village and community halls across England. They’re key elements in local communities, providing a space for social events, fitness sessions, education and a host of other benefits. Around 450 such venues can be found across Norfolk, and at CAN we’re out there helping many of them with advice on funding, governance, project management and trustee training.
Monday 20th - Sunday 26th January 2020 is Village Halls Week - celebrating everything good about our community venues across the county and the country!
