5 top tips for successful funding bids

Finding funding for your voluntary group or organisation or community project isn’t easy.  Here are five easy-to-understand top tips to bear in mind…

Trust matters - how the public sees charities

‘Trust matters.’ The first two words in the introduction to the Charity Commission’s report ‘Trust in Charities’.   In the light of the emergence of corruption and scandal in some large national and international charities, many managers and staff in the third sector are rightly concerned about how the public views them and the way they work.

What's so hard about being a trustee then?

Here at CAN we’re often asked to advise on the duties and responsibilities of being a trustee.  People are often understandably confused about what being a trustee really involves and a good deal of our governance work entails resolving this for them.

What's happening at your village hall or community venue?

There are around 10,000 village and community halls across England. They’re key elements in local communities, providing a space for social events, fitness sessions, education and a host of other benefits. Around 450 such venues can be found across Norfolk, and at CAN we’re out there helping many of them with advice on funding, governance, project management and trustee training.

Who needs an Energy Performance Certificate?

You almost certainly do if you run a community building or village hall. Energy performance Certificates (EPCs) state the energy efficiency rating of buildings.

Help with making a complaint about NHS treatment

The UK’s National Health Service is rated best in the world. However, given the importance of the services it provides, each time something goes wrong is a potential tragedy, It’s important that if things can be put right they are and, if not, that lessons are learned.

Volunteers are needed in North Norfolk!

Did you know that Volunteering can be local, flexible and fit around your life?

CAN is working in partnership with Merchant’s Place Volunteer Hub on a 'Volunteer Boost Project' to increase the numbers of volunteers that get involved with local community projects in North Norfolk, particularly the CAN Connect Project and Good Neighbour Schemes.
