The attachment below  contains the people who have been nominated for the elected roles to the VCSE sector leadership group. The election will take place at 1600 on Tuesday 7th July at the Kings Centre, Norwich. This session is open and free to all VCSE organisations. Below you will find a paper about establishing a voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector Sector Leadership Group. This is one the initiatives that is being developed in response to some of the priorities identified by VCSE organisations through the Sector Led Plan engagement process.

The Appleseed care farm has been set up in Wymondham to offer people with mental health and social care needs, suffering with anxiety and depression, job seekers, ex-offenders and those living in sheltered housing a chance to boost their health, happiness and well-being. Norfolk RCC helped with funding research and advice after the project almost stalled  at an early stage.

Greg Sadler from Appleseed explains “We knew which organisations we wanted to approach with funding applications but we were getting nowhere. South Norfolk Councillor Neil Ward put us in touch with Norfolk RCC and their input was invaluable in helping us frame our applications and presentations in a way that got us noticed. Without a doubt, the funding wouldn’t have happened without the RCC’s support.”

Fearing the loss of the existing bookshop, which was run as a private business but was closing down, a group of local people wanted to take it over and run it as a social enterprise. The group got in contact with Community Action Norfolk and we reviewed the group’s business plan and funding options, providing advice and additional options for support. The group also valued our advice in setting up an appropriate legal structure for their new social enterprise.
