Volunteers Week 2022

This year Volunteers Week (1st June – 7th June) is taking place during the #MonthOfCommunity. At CAN, we are proud to work with many incredible volunteers who help others in our CANConnect and Good Neighbour Schemes. Volunteers are an integral part of our community, and they have helped the lives of many who need it the most. Even in the recent difficult times, volunteers have stepped up and offered their time and energy to help others and we are so thankful for all that they do.

According to The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), the #MonthOfCommunity

“Brings together organisations with a range of events in order to encourage us all to think about and join in with activities happening in our local communities.”

The NCVO have several resources you can use for Volunteers Week on their website here. You can also find out more information about how Volunteers Week this year has been celebrated!

In the run up to the celebrations this week, we worked with Voluntary Norfolk to see how we could best thank volunteers in and around Norfolk. Some resources will be available to those in the VCSE sector on the Empowering Communities website here.

Further Information

Our CANConnect service is offered to anyone aged 18+ in the Breckland and North Norfolk areas who might be struggling with loneliness and social isolation. We pair clients up with volunteers or life connectors to offer both telephone befriending and one -to-one support to get them back into the community. You can find out more about the service here.
We will be running an event on Wednesday the 8th June at Felbrigg Hall with the National Trust to say a big thank you to our volunteers working on the CANConnect project.

We are also delighted to share that we will be holding a Volunteering Marketplace event alongside the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk to give you the chance to find out more about volunteering organisations in West Norfolk. You can find out more about the event here!
