Downham Dementia is a local charity set up to improve the lives of those living with dementia and their care givers. We are celebrating our tenth anniversary year, having set up our first café in 2015. We became a registered charity in 2021.
We now run five cafés each month (increasing to six in July 2025) and have just started a sitting service to give our carers a two hour break once a fortnight. We have three employees who are responsible for the day to day running of our charity.
We are now looking to appoint more trustees. Trustees are responsible for making decisions about the charity’s direction and ensuring that it has the necessary resources and policies to comply with legal requirements. The trustee role is a voluntary one and at Downham Dementia we meet once a month.
