The following statement on safeguarding updates is being shared by CAN on behalf of The National Lottery Community Fund.

The National Lottery Community Fund has updated its safeguarding commitment.

We must take steps to ensure Children and Adults at Risk are protected from harm, recognising our role as a Funder in supporting a culture of safe and protective practice both within the Fund and in the organisations we support.   Our Safeguarding Policy outlines the Fund’s expectations for all Grant Holders.  The relevant people at your organisation should familiarise themselves with the policy and ensure that your organisation’s own safeguarding policies and procedures are in line with best practice.

Please note, people at the Fund do not have the specialist expertise to advise you on your safeguarding and protection policies and procedures, as these must be tailored to fit the activities of your own organisation. If you require advice, you should seek it externally.

A safeguarding toolkit designed for the voluntary sector by NCVO and NSPCC can be found here.

You should inform your Funding Officer as soon as possible and no later than within three working days of any potentially serious concerns or disclosures. The Fund reserves the right to request further information and may take action if necessary. Please contact your Funding Officer should you have any questions or concerns. You can also call the Advice line on 03454 102030 with general queries.
