Rural Housing Enabler

Community Action Norfolk is an independent charity with a mission to help build a stronger and fairer Norfolk through support, empowerment and strategic partnership with voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations.

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Rural Housing Enabler. In this role, you will play a crucial part in increasing the supply of affordable housing in rural Norfolk, focusing on communities with populations smaller than 3000.  You will directly engage with communities, providing a range of support, from their initial expression of interest, gathering of evidence of need and liaising with other stakeholders.  Assisting them in the complete journey of developing their own housing schemes.

In this role, clear communication is essential. You'll be raising awareness of the need for affordable rural housing, presenting to a range of audiences and working in partnership with communities / community leaders, parish councils, district and county authorities, landowners, developers, housing organisations, agents, planners, and other partners to bring forward rural affordable housing projects in Norfolk.

Good IT skills, and the ability to build strong relationships are crucial.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of current affordable housing issues, policies, development, funding, and delivery. With the following experience/skills:

  • At least two years experience working in housing– or similar areas of work.
  • Working with local authorities, parish councils, housing associations and similar organisations.
  • Community development and engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Fixed term contract until March 31 2025 but willing to extend if candidate is successful in developing sufficient project interest.
