A Good Neighbour Scheme could be set up in Hunstanton and the surrounding area.

Community Action Norfolk has helped set up a number of such schemes across the county. Run and delivered by groups of local volunteers, the schemes are aimed at helping elderly, disabled or vulnerable people in communities. The idea is to help with simple tasks such as giving lifts to the GP surgery, shopping, befriending, home visiting, gardening - even changing light bulbs.

A local group would be set up with a committee, a bank account with initial funding from the charity towards the first year's operating costs, a mobile phone and insurance. Training, support and expenses are provided. A public meeting will be held at 6.30pm on Thursday 22nd October at Hunstanton Community Centre to discuss setting up a scheme - all are invited to attend.
