CANConnect has worked regularly with Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Aylsham in offering social events aimed at bringing together people from across the area who are experiencing loneliness and social isolation.

Now we’ve have teamed up with Redwings to establish a new group offering company and support for anyone who feels they would benefit. Friday 18th December sees a live event at the visitor centre, from 11.00am to 1.00pm. Our hope is that this will become a regular event.

There will be an opportunity to meet the residents of course and there’ll be free tea and coffee available. The invitation is to treat yourself to a piece of cake to go with it, or a slice of delicious pizza from Redwings' new pizza oven!  We will of course be taking steps to make the Sanctuary as Covid-safe as possible for visitors, and you can see a video explaining how this is being done here.

We will be taking a walk to meet the residents and Redwings have arranged a fun outside spot-the-hazard-in-the-paddock activity for you to join in with if you wish.

The shop will also be open for some last minute Christmas shopping.

Numbers will be limited to 15, in accordance with government guidelines, so there will be plenty of space for social distancing – and it won’t be crowded, so no-one need feel vulnerable in terms of their health. And there’ll be no pressure to join the group inside. It’s all about choice – feel free to just some along for a walk or join the outside activities if you would prefer.

We will do our best to make the 18th as Covid-safe as possible so we hope people will feel confident to come along and meet the residents - and each other of course!  And please note, Redwings will be closed to the public during our event, so it won’t be overcrowded or overwhelming for anyone.

Places on the 18th December are by prior arrangement only. Please contact Sally Thornton for more information or to book a place. Email [email protected] or ‘phone 01362 698216.
