Shaping A Care Association for Norfolk – thank you and next steps

A big thank you to everyone took time out to give their views on the value and purpose of a Care Association for social care providers in Norfolk and what its priorities should be. Over 150 owners, manager, employers and care workers, representing almost 300 social care services and thousands of service users completed, the 25-minute online survey.  Our six Market Connectors also spent many hours talking to managers and owners, raising awareness of the consultation and the potential benefits of a Care Association.   Added to the views of the 78 participants who attended the ½ day consultation workshops in October last year, it means that we, as a provider-led Executive Steering Group (ESG), can feel confident this has been a robust and inclusive consultation.

What next?

Our University partners (University of East Anglia and University of Suffolk) are currently analysing the results of the survey which will be considered at our next Executive Steering Group meeting in March 2019.  Following that meeting a report on the survey will be sent direct to everyone who requested a copy.  It will also be circulated widely through our usual communication channels.  There will then be another short window for feedback.

In April 2019 a final report will be presented to the ESG bringing together all the strands of consultation and research:  the initial consultation workshops; the online survey; additional feedback and our findings on what Care Associations are doing elsewhere in the country.  This is the report that will contain options and recommendations on the purpose, priorities and form of a Care Association for Norfolk.

We already know from your responses (both through the survey and in conversations with the Market Connectors) that a large majority of you welcome the idea of a Care Association for Norfolk.  Over 85% of survey respondents felt it was important to have a Care Association - 52% (very) and 33.3% (fairly).  So, the consultation has given us a ‘green light’ to move towards implementation.
