Meet Alan,

Alan is our Administrative Support Volunteer and has been with us for nearly four years.

Alan’s Role

Alan provides the team with support for their projects, which has included:

  • Helping to cover reception, answering the ‘phone and helping put the callers through to the right team member
  • Almost everyday he scans the Eastern Daily Press for articles about the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. 
  • He helps Steve, our Communications Officer, with keeping a track of our press releases.
  • Alan is supporting Clare’s Intelligence Hub work, by contacting organisations on our database.

What Alan says about volunteering:

‘I have worked as a volunteer for various organisations, all charities, in the ‘caring sector’, since retirement.  I have gained  a great deal of knowledge, experience, friends and much satisfaction in helping others, and intend to continue with this while able to do so.’

Fun Facts about Alan:

  • Alan was a Police Officer for 24 years, retiring in 2000.
  • Since retiring he has volunteered in many places, including; MIND, Cancer Research, and Equal Lives
  • He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren
  • He is a keen amateur photographer!
